HyperFly
Jiu-Jitsu is one of the oldest forms of Martial Arts known to man. It originated more than 4,000 years ago by Buddhist monks from northern India, where a man, known today as Buddha (the “Enlightened One"), lived a peaceful life.
As robbers and soldiers began to invade the monasteries, the monks had to create an effective, non-violent form of self-defense technique against their much larger and stronger opponents. Without kicking or punching, the monks were still able to defend themselves, thus becoming the true creators of the grappling arts. This non-violent technique traveled to Japan where it evolved to what is now Jiu-Jitsu, translated from Japanese, The Gentle Art.
Just as Jiu Jitsu had stayed true to its core values of peace and traveled around the world from Japan to Brazil to the U.S., so too did a small German family who moved to the U.S. and created, what is today, the most unique and influential brand within the world of Jiu Jitsu — Hyperfly.
Founded in 2011, the story of Hyperfly’s journey connects deeply to its mantra, “You Can’t Teach Heart."®. As authenticity, diligence, and perseverance have become the core values of the company, Hyperfly has been able to create a community of fighters who share the same DNA.
To have heart is more than to practice discipline. It’s to push yourself even harder when everyone else quits. It’s to put in the work that no one else is willing to. It’s not about how many wins you have or medals around your neck, but about what you gave of yourself in battle. It’s to live past the materialistic world of imaginary status and to bring your authentic greatness as a contribution to the world. It’s to fight for Honor, not for Gold.
This is our Journey.
This is Hyperfly.
